GRADUATION CEREMONY OF 2020 IIWY YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
Beneficiaries of the IIWY training programme on digital literacy will today, December 12, 2020, graduate in the Mbagor Community of Vandeikya Local Government Area, Benue State. The ceremony which also serves as the end-of-year activity will hold from 1:00 PM to 03:00 PM. Registration and admission of participants commence at 9:00 AM.
In a bid to empower the youths to participate in the 21st-century knowledge economy, IIWY commenced the training of 80 youths on Leadership Development from 5th to 7th December 2019.
Following the leadership training, youths were trained on computer appreciation over three months from January to March 2020 before the COVID19 lockdown.
The participants returned for follow-up training on digital literacy after the reduction of the lockdown restrictions. Thirty youths were trained on computer appreciation/application and intensive digital literacy which was held in Tsar Mbaduku, from October – December 2020.
At the graduation ceremony, three outstanding trainees will be awarded prizes to encourage excellence among their peers. The criteria for selection were based on their attendance, participation, and cumulative weekly assessments. There will be role-playing and exhibitions of skills learned from the training. Participants will showcase what they will do with the skills in the future. he objective of the end of Year Event is to: • Encourage Mbagor Women and Youths to be self-reliant; • Sensitize the community on the programmes and activities of IIWY; and • Graduate the first set of ICT trainees. Dignitaries expected to attend this event include Local Government Chairperson, Mbaduku Development Association, Traditional rulers from Mbaduku, the leadership of Benue NGOs Network (BENGONET), Community gatekeepers, Member Benue State House of Assembly representing Tiev Constituency, Councilor representing Mba Tyough council ward, and the General public.
